Meaco are a British company founded in 1991 who are recognised as one of the world leaders in consumer dehumidifiers. We initially started out providing measurement and control solutions for museums and art galleries across Europe. In 1992 we developed the world’s first environmental radio telemetry system for museums in conjunction with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This was the first of hundreds of telemetry systems installed in major museums and libraries across the whole of Europe.

Working closely with museums gave us a deep and unparalleled understanding of how relative humidity interacts with not just museum artefacts, but also our own possessions and our own homes.

In 1999 we were appointed as the British representative for the Japanese giant Mitsubishi Electric and their range of domestic dehumidifiers. This relationship continues through to today and helped us to understand the steps that are required to make a truly exceptional dehumidifier.

All of this grounding and learning from museums, galleries, archives, libraries and Mitsubishi Electric was brought together when we stated to design our own dehumidifiers in 2005 after selling the museum side of our business.
