Man Dies From Drinking ‘Dehumidifier’ Water

Very sad story from the UK Daily Mail concerning an autistic man in South Korea who died after drinking the water from a calcium chloride dehumidifier.

We have always worried about this type of ‘dehumidifier’, and have wondered about how safe it is to have trays of this calcium chloride solution around the house, especially when there are children and pets in the home.

Our advise as always is to keep them well out of the reach of children and make sure that pets cannot knock them over or drink from them.

Their actual drying effect is very limited and we would always recommend a proper dehumidifier for reducing the humidity in your home.
